Indoor plants, is more than just a trend.

A number of studies has shown that indoor plants not only reduce air and noise pollution, they also boost moods, increase creativity and reduce stress.

Here are some tips to help you care for indoor plants.

Tips for Your Indoor Plants

  • Indoor plants don't like "wet feet". Make sure the plant pot has good drainage and keep the soil moist but don't over water it. A watering schedule of once or twice a week is suitable for most house plants. Or water it when the soil is 2/3 dry. Reduce watering in the winter months when plants do not require as much water.
  • Place your indoor plant near light source for them to carry out the necessary biological processes.
  • Misting your house plants one to two times per week gives them a good humidity environment to grow.
  • Giving the plant a overall warm shower at least 3 to 5 minutes once a season allows it to breathe from dust and photosynthesise more efficiently. Make sure water drains freely out the bottom of the pot.
  • Keep plants away from cold drafts in winter time. They need a minimum temperature of 12ºC (55ºF) to survive.
  • Apply fertilisers only during the growing season.
  • If you spot bugs or pests, buy an insecticidal soap from garden centre. Follow the instruction. Spray the entire plant includes top and undersides of the leaves and the stem once two weeks. Quarantine your plant in a seperate room for 40 days to help minimise the spread of pests or disease.
