How to Use Wardrobe Freshener
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a lavender sachet actually work for moth prevention?
Lavender contains naturally occurring linalool and camphor compounds that moths find repellent. Our Lavandula × intermedia 'Super' buds are particularly high in these compounds due to being harvested at peak bloom from our Waikato farm. While a lavender sachet is not a guaranteed moth exterminator, it is a widely used and effective natural deterrent for protecting woolens, cashmeres, and stored linens — without any toxic chemicals.
How long does the scent last?
Our dried lavender sachets typically hold their scent for 6–12 months in an enclosed space such as a drawer or wardrobe. To extend the life of the sachet, give it a gentle squeeze periodically — this breaks open more of the dried flower buds and releases a fresh burst of fragrance from the linalool-rich interior.
Where is the best place to put a lavender sachet?
Place the sachet directly in a drawer alongside clothing or linens, hang it in a wardrobe near woolens, tuck it into a suitcase, or layer it into a linen cupboard. For best results, keep the sachet in an enclosed space where the fragrance can concentrate. You can also place it under a pillow or inside a pillowcase for a gentle nighttime scent — pair it with our Lavender Pillow Sachet which is specifically sized for under-pillow use.
What type of lavender is used — is it the same as in your essential oil?
Yes — our drawer sachets are filled with dried Lavandula × intermedia 'Super' flower buds, the same variety we grow for our steam-distilled essential oil. This is LBG's primary commercial variety, grown on our spray-free farm in the Waikato, New Zealand. It has a robust, full-bodied lavender scent — stronger and longer-lasting in enclosed spaces than softer angustifolia varieties.
Can I use this sachet in my car?
Yes — a lavender sachet works well in a car glove box, under a seat, or hanging from a mirror. The enclosed space helps concentrate the fragrance. For dedicated car freshening, also see our Lavender Eco-Friendly Car Diffuser which is designed specifically for vehicle use.
Do you ship lavender sachets to Australia?
Yes — we ship our lavender drawer sachets to Australia. Dried lavender flower buds are a biosecurity-compliant product for import into Australia when properly dried and packaged, as ours are. Standard international shipping rates apply. See our shipping policy for current rates and delivery times.
