Lavender Backyard Garden® began as a simple patch of plain land — wild, untamed, and full of promise. In those early days, Ben and Samantha, parents of four, lovingly tended just four humble rows of lavender on their Newstead farm in Waikato, New Zealand. The scent was subtle, the blooms small, but the vision was already clear: a life rooted in nature, family, and calm.

On the very same land stood an overgrown blueberry orchard, once fruitful but long forgotten. Determined to breathe life back into it, they cut the bushes down to ground level, nurturing them back with patience and care. Season after season, the blueberries thrived again — a quiet, beautiful testament to resilience and renewal.

As the farm blossomed, so did the family's dream. Joined by Sister Tracey, a certified personal care and cosmetic specialist, the family began crafting lavender-infused skincare and wellness products — made in small batches with intention and love since 2014. Every balm, candle, and mist is handmade right here on our Waikato farm, guided by Tracey's expertise and our family's devotion to quality and care.

We welcome you to step into our world — stroll through the lavender rows, breathe in the calm, and see the heart behind every jar. Each December through to Auckland Anniversary Day, our farm at 398 Marshmeadow Road, Newstead, Hamilton, Waikato opens its gates for visitors to experience the fields in full bloom, pick their own lavender and blueberries, and take a little piece of New Zealand's only lavender and blueberry farm home with them. Our farm is more than a place — it's where our story continues to bloom.

From Our Story to Your Home

Every product we create is rooted in this story — from the very first lavender rows to the handcrafted goods we share with you today. We steam-distil our essential oil on-site from our own Lavandula × intermedia 'Super' harvest each January in Waikato, New Zealand, capturing the naturally occurring linalool at its most potent. From that first distillation to the finished product in your hands, nothing leaves our farm without reflecting the care, quality, and deep love for nature that started it all.
