How to Use Our Dried Lavender Bunch
Frequently Asked Questions
What's in a bunch of your dried lavender?
Each bunch holds about 70 stems of Super Lavandin (Lavandula × intermedia 'Super'), 30–45cm long. The stems are air-dried in bunches and have a light, fresh lavender scent, ready for vases, weddings, wreaths and gift wrapping.
Is your dried lavender spray-free?
Yes, we grow our lavender without sprays on our family farm in Newstead, Waikato. We hand-harvest the stems at full bloom and air-dry them in bunches, so nothing is added between the field and your vase.
How do I display dried lavender, and how long does it last?
Stand the bunch in a dry vase or jug, out of direct sunlight and away from steam. Kept this way it holds its shape for a long time, while the purple slowly softens. Sunlight and bathroom steam fade it faster.
Will dried lavender shed buds?
A few buds may fall when you first unwrap or move the bunch, which is normal for dried lavender. Give it a gentle shake outdoors before you arrange it, then handle it lightly once it's in place.
Can I cook with this dried lavender?
No, this bunch is for display and crafts, not cooking. Super Lavandin is grown for its oil and display, not as a culinary variety. For baking and tea, use culinary English lavender such as our Lavandula angustifolia 'Pacific Blue'.
Is dried lavender a good gift or wedding decoration?
Yes, a bunch makes an easy gift for a housewarming, birthday or thank-you, and it suits wedding tables, bouquets and wreaths. Order a few bunches for larger arrangements, as each one holds about 70 stems.
How long does delivery take, and can I order from overseas?
We send dried flowers and foliage by tracked courier within New Zealand, packed separately from other items to protect them. Delivery usually takes 3–5 working days in the North Island and 5–7 in the South Island and rural areas. You can order from overseas for delivery to a New Zealand address.
