How to Use Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend
Frequently Asked Questions
Does lavender and chamomile tea actually help with sleep?
Both lavender and chamomile have been studied for their calming properties. Chamomile contains apigenin, a flavonoid that binds to GABA receptors in the brain — the same receptors targeted by sleep medications, but gently and naturally. Lavender is rich in linalool, widely studied for its ability to reduce cortisol and calm the nervous system. Together, they make a genuinely effective pre-sleep ritual — particularly when drunk consistently 30–45 minutes before bed as part of a wind-down routine.
What does this tea taste like?
Soft, floral, and gently sweet — the warm honey-like depth of chamomile with a delicate lavender undertone. It's not soapy or perfumed the way some lavender teas can be. Because we use dried lavender buds from our own Waikato farm rather than flavouring agents, the lavender note is subtle and true to the plant. Naturally caffeine-free and pleasant to drink without milk or sweetener.
How do I brew it for best results?
Use approximately one heaped teaspoon per cup. Pour freshly boiled water that has cooled slightly — around 90°C is ideal for floral herbs. Steep for 5–7 minutes, then strain. Drink 30–45 minutes before sleep for best results as part of a wind-down routine. The full size tin makes approximately 20 cups — the travel size is perfect for a few cups away from home.
Can I use this tea alongside your other lavender sleep products?
Yes — it works beautifully as the starting point of a complete sleep ritual. Brew a cup 30–45 minutes before bed, then mist your pillow with our Lavender Sleep Spray, apply our Lavender Sleep Balm to your pulse points, tuck our Lavender Pillow Sachet under your pillow, and place our Lavender Eye Pillow over your eyes. All use the same farm-grown lavender — the tea starts the ritual from the inside, the other products complete it from the outside.
Where is this herbal tea made?
The lavender used in this blend is grown and harvested on our family farm in Newstead, Waikato, New Zealand. We've been growing Lavandula angustifolia on our Waikato property since 2014. The chamomile and lavender are blended and packed in small batches in New Zealand — no imported lavender, no artificial flavourings.
