How to Use Lavender Balm
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the lavender sleep balm actually help you fall asleep?
Yes — the mechanism is well supported. Our sleep balm uses pure Lavandula × intermedia essential oil steam-distilled on our Waikato farm, which is rich in naturally occurring linalool — the compound widely studied for its ability to reduce cortisol, calm the nervous system, and support deeper, more restful sleep. Applied to pulse points before bed, the warmth of your skin releases the scent slowly throughout the night, creating a consistent aromatic signal that tells your body it's time to rest.
Is the sleep balm safe for children?
Yes — the formula contains no synthetic fragrance, no alcohol, and no harsh chemicals. The base is beeswax, olive oil, coconut oil, and Vitamin E — all skin-safe and gentle. For children under 2, we recommend applying to the soles of the feet rather than the face or neck. Always patch-test on a small area of skin first, and keep out of reach of young children to avoid accidental ingestion.
How do I use the sleep balm for best results?
Warm a small amount between your fingertips, then apply to your wrists, temples, or behind the ears 10–15 minutes before sleep. Breathe slowly and let the scent settle. For children, apply to the soles of the feet. The balm absorbs cleanly — no greasy residue on pillows or sheets. Use nightly as part of a consistent bedtime routine for best results.
Can I use the sleep balm with your Lavender Sleep Spray?
Yes — they're designed to work together. Apply the sleep balm to your pulse points, then mist your pillow with our Lavender Sleep Spray. Both use the same farm-grown Lavandula × intermedia essential oil, so the scents layer naturally. The spray sets the atmosphere, the balm grounds you through touch — together they create a stronger, longer-lasting sleep signal than either product alone.
Where is this sleep balm made?
Made in New Zealand using lavender essential oil grown and steam-distilled on our family farm in Newstead, Waikato. We've been growing Lavandula × intermedia 'Super' on our Waikato property since 2014. Every tin is small-batch made — not factory-manufactured.
