How to Use Essential Oil Balm for Focus
Frequently Asked Questions
Does rosemary actually help with focus and concentration?
Yes — rosemary is one of the most studied botanicals for cognitive performance. Its key compound, 1,8-cineole, has been linked in multiple studies to improved memory retention, mental alertness, and processing speed. The effect is delivered aromatically — inhaling the scent is enough to trigger the response, which is why a pulse-point balm applied near the nose and wrists works effectively. The lavender in this blend balances the stimulating effect of rosemary with calm focus, preventing the edginess that caffeine can produce.
How do I use the focus balm for best results?
Warm a small amount between your fingertips, then apply to your wrists, temples, or under your nose before a study session, work block, or meditation. Breathe slowly and let the scent settle. The balm absorbs cleanly — no greasy residue on hands or papers. Reapply as needed throughout the day. The 20ml tin fits in a pocket, bag, or desk drawer for easy on-the-go use.
Is this safe to use every day?
Yes — the formula uses naturally-derived essential oils in a base of olive oil, castor oil, and coconut oil. No synthetic fragrance, no alcohol, no harsh chemicals. Suitable for daily use on pulse points. If you have sensitive skin or a known sensitivity to rosemary or lavender essential oils, patch-test on a small area first. Keep away from eyes.
Can I use this with your other lavender aromatherapy products?
Yes — the focus balm pairs perfectly with our Focus Aromatherapy Mist for a layered, longer-lasting focus environment — apply the balm to your pulse points and mist the spray into the air around your workspace. At the end of the day, transition to rest with our Lavender Sleep Balm and our Lavender Essential Oil in a diffuser. Use the focus balm during the day, the sleep balm at night.
Where is this focus balm made?
Made in New Zealand using both lavender and Tuscan Blue rosemary essential oils grown and steam-distilled on our family farm in Newstead, Waikato. We grow Lavandula × intermedia 'Super' lavender and Tuscan Blue rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) on our Waikato property. Every tin is small-batch made — not factory-manufactured. Both key oils are truly field to bottle.
